Pillow cushioning cannot prevent snoring and may be counterproductive and aggravate snoring.
The root cause of snoring is the narrowing of the nasal cavity, throat cavity and other upper airway caused by breathing due to the acceleration of the airflow, driving the mucous membrane of the upper airway to produce irregular vibration, thus appearing snoring sound. If the pillow is high, it may aggravate the narrowing of the airway and worsen the snoring.
Snoring is more common in obese patients, or in chronic rhinitis, turbinate hypertrophy, tonsil hypertrophy, small jaw deformity, pharyngeal cavity stenosis and other diseases. When snoring patients sleep, it is recommended that the pillow is lowered, so that the head can be better extended back, which is conducive to the opening of the airway. Or use the side lying position to rest, so as not to fall back from the root of the tongue.
