Symptoms of thalassemia in adults

The main symptoms of thalassemia, i.e. dysgenerative anemia, are basically the same as those of general anemia, i.e. neurological symptoms, pale skin and mucous membranes, respiratory distress, dyspepsia, etc. In particular, there will be special facial features and hepatosplenomegaly. 1. Neurological symptoms: dizziness, tinnitus, headache, insomnia, ringing in the ears, etc. are common symptoms of anemia, which are caused by lack of oxygen in nerve tissues due to anemia. 2. Pale skin and mucous membranes: Anemia is characterized by pale skin and mucous membranes, which is caused by the reduced blood supply to the skin and mucous membranes, as well as the reduced content of red blood cells and hemoglobin in the blood. 3. Difficulty in breathing: Anemia may manifest as difficulty in breathing, which may not be obvious in mild anemia, but in severe anemia, even in a calm state, it may be difficult to breathe. 4. Dyspepsia: In anemia, the secretion of the digestive glands decreases or even the glands atrophy, so there will be dyspepsia and poor appetite. 5. In severe cases, patients may have special facial features such as a large head, high cheekbones, low nose, and enlarged liver and spleen. Once similar symptoms occur, one should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause and take treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
