Pineal germ cell tumor is a type of germ cell tumor, the cause of which is not clear, and symptoms such as headache and vomiting can be seen, which need to be treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. Pineal germ cell tumor is a germ cell tumor that occurs in the pineal region and is a malignant tumor. Currently, the etiology and pathogenesis of this disease are unclear, but studies have shown an association with specific genetic syndromes, such as Down syndrome and klinefelter syndrome in which the incidence of germ cell tumors is significantly increased. Common clinical symptoms of pineal germ cell tumors include nausea, headache, vomiting, and optic papilla edema, followed by precocious puberty in about 70% of affected children. Usually, patients are treated with chemotherapy or radiation, and if they are not sensitive to these two treatment modalities, surgery is considered. The prognosis for simple pineal germ cell tumors is generally good, but there is a possibility of recurrence. When diagnosed with pineal germ cell tumor, it is important to actively cooperate with doctors to avoid delaying the disease.
