Cerebral white matter softening is not cerebral palsy, these are two different concepts. Cerebral white matter softening is an imaging concept. Generally, patients with cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage will have a reduced signal in the white matter of the brain when they have a cranial MRI, which is called cerebral white matter softening. Cerebral palsy is a different concept. Cerebral palsy is mainly seen in infancy and childhood, where patients have paralysis and difficulty speaking due to various reasons after birth or during infancy, and there is no cerebral white matter softening on MRI. Cerebral palsy is a disease that is not necessarily related to cerebral white matter softening, which is an imaging concept and a radiology term.
