Ear swelling for a year is considered to be related to secretory otitis media, Meniere’s disease, cerumen impaction and other diseases, which need to be given targeted treatment according to the specific causes.
1. Secretory otitis media: Rhinitis, pharyngitis and other infectious diseases of the upper respiratory tract can affect the function of the Eustachian tube, the Eustachian tube dysfunction leads to negative pressure in the middle ear cavity, triggering ear distension, tinnitus, hearing loss and other symptoms of secretory otitis media. Amoxicillin, mometasone furoate nasal spray, furosemide nasal drops, eucalyptus pinocin enteric soft capsule and other symptomatic treatment can be used.
2. Meniere’s disease: the inner ear membrane labyrinth accumulation of water and other factors lead to inner ear nerve dysfunction caused by the disease, can appear ear stuffiness, tinnitus, hearing loss and vertigo and other symptoms. Mecobalamin tablets and other neurotropic drugs can be used, as well as betahistine and other drugs to improve microcirculation.
3. Cerumen impaction: Excessive earwax clogging the ear canal, resulting in increased pressure inside the ear canal and causing clinical symptoms such as ear distension, ear stuffiness, hearing loss and tinnitus. For treatment, cerumen can be removed from the ear canal with a cerumen hook or by suction after the cerumen has been softened.
