What should I do if my blood pressure has suddenly gone up in the last few days?

Patients with sudden increase in blood pressure in the last few days need to undergo blood pressure monitoring, such as going to the hospital to check homocysteine, biochemistry, liver function, kidney function, blood lipids and blood glucose. It is recommended to do 24-hour dynamic blood pressure monitoring. If the patient’s above indexes are normal, it is only a transient increase in blood pressure, which is usually caused when the sympathetic nerves are over-excited, e.g., excessive mental stress or recent rest, poor sleep, emotional excitement, agitation, or drinking too much alcohol or smoking too much, which will lead to a sudden increase in blood pressure in the last few days. After avoiding the above mentioned bad habits and other triggers, the blood pressure will gradually return to normal. If the patient has clear hypertension after examination, systematic and regular drug treatment is needed, and beta-blockers, calcium antagonists, ACEI-type drugs, diuretics and ARB-type drugs can be chosen.
