No special preparation is usually required for an ocular ultrasound. The patient is placed on the examination bed in the supine position, and the examination begins with the patient’s eyes closed and a sterilized coupling agent gently applied around the eyelids. The ultrasound of the eye is performed with a wire-array probe, also known as a high-frequency probe. The doctor must be gentle during the eye examination and must not use rough force. Ultrasound can detect common eye diseases such as vitreous clouding, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, eyelid and orbital masses, and trauma to the eye. Eye ultrasound is easy to do, no trauma, no pain, can be repeated several times, is an essential program of ophthalmic ultrasound examination.
