Infant flatulence is mostly caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach, stagnation of milk and food, etc. Tui Na can be used to tonify the spleen meridian, knead the Panmen, moisten the abdomen, and pinch and knead the four horizontal stripes, etc. Infants are delicate and susceptible to dietary influences. Infants’ spleen and stomach are delicate and susceptible to dietary influences, which may cause the spleen and stomach to be unable to carry out digestion (initial digestion of food, formation of food waste), resulting in flatulence and other symptoms. Tui na therapy can be used to tonify the spleen meridian in order to strengthen the spleen and help transportation, together with kneading the Panmen gate, belly rubbing in a clockwise motion, and pinching and kneading the four transverse stripes to regulate the flow of qi and eliminate food. Children with food stagnation (indigestion of food and its accumulation in the stomach) can also be treated by clearing the large intestine and rubbing the middle epigastric region to eliminate food stagnation (and promote food digestion); and children with spleen deficiency can be treated by pushing the three passes and kneading the spine to replenish the spleen and increase qi. Infant flatulence should be treated with massage by professionals, and if necessary, should be treated with other therapies, so it is not advisable to do it without authorization.
