What’s wrong with a low-grade fever with no symptoms and normal tests?

Low fever has little symptom and no abnormality in relevant examination, it may be due to physiological factors, or it may be due to pathologic factors such as low fever in summer, low fever after the infection is cured, etc. It is recommended to review the examination if the low fever persists.

1. Physiological factors: Hypothermia can occur under physiological conditions such as prolonged high mental tension, long or heavy labor, premenstrual period, early pregnancy, etc. It can have no other abnormalities. There may be no other abnormalities, and the fever usually recovers on its own after rest or after a special physiological period.

2. Pathologic factors.

(1) Summer hypothermia: the typical manifestation of hypothermia only occurs in summer, which can be repeated and is more common in young children. This symptom is mostly due to the fact that the thermoregulatory center of young children is not yet perfect or the body is weak, etc. Usually, there is no other abnormality, and it can be restored to normal with the growth of age.

(2) Hypothermia after the cure of infection: usually occurs after the cure of fever caused by viral, bacterial and other infectious diseases, although the disease has been cured, but due to the thermoregulatory function has not yet returned to the normal level, hypothermia can occur, and usually can be relieved on its own.

If the fever is not relieved for a long time, it is recommended to go to the hospital for systematic examination.
