Understanding of “side effects of Chinese medicine

In my daily work, I often hear the argument that “Chinese medicine is safe, has few side effects or has no side effects”. These arguments are expressed by both ordinary patients and our medical practitioners. As a professional, I think it is justifiable if it is the patients who say such things. As they have no professional knowledge, but as a medical practitioner who can say such things, I can only think that you are “in order” to fully carry forward the national call for the development of Chinese medicine. When I was in school, there was a parallel between medicine and poison in the introduction of Chinese medicine in the textbooks. After working for more than ten years, I have a deeper understanding that Chinese medicine is beneficial when used correctly, but toxic when used incorrectly. As most Chinese medicines are relatively calm, it is difficult to see the harm from the surface if you eat the wrong one or two. Therefore, in the past, when a doctor was treating a minor illness, he should have used an offensive medicine, but the quack used the wrong tonic and the patient died. The patient’s relatives, however, were grateful to the healer and thought that the healer had given the patient good medicine (because in the mind of ordinary people, tonic medicine is good medicine). The patient died is having a serious illness. Oy! What a sadness! You can see the horror of ignorance (professional common sense). My understanding of Chinese medicine is that it has four properties: cold, hot, warm and cool, and five flavors: pungent, sweet, sour (astringent), bitter and salty (light). Each medicine has a bias in these properties and flavors, and it is these biases that are used by physicians to correct abnormalities in the human body. If the doctor correctly diagnoses the cause of the disease, and thus carefully selects the flavor of the medicine, so that whether it is an attacking product or a tonic medicine, it will be useful. Thus, the human body’s disease will produce the effect of medicine to remove the disease. On the contrary, the lighter the disease ho no change (in fact, at this time the patient’s body has been harmed just did not show on the outside); or even aggravate the disease, or even lead to the transformation of the disease, as mentioned in the previous example to the death of people. Usually, some patients often ask me what kind of tonic is good, and most of these people are relatively well-off. This is also probably the view of most people that tonic medicine is good medicine. The rich can suggest it because they have strong purchasing power. I think such a view is very wrong. Ginseng is recognized as a good tonic, but after a normal person eats more of it, he will suffer from bleeding caused by blood heat. Gum is good, but it will make people lose their appetite. The rhubarb is a kind of powerful attacking product, but in the Yang Ming internal organs, it is the most important medicine. Although the appendage is poisonous, it is a golden product for patients with cold feet and hands. Now the living conditions are better, there are many people will have their own medicine, medicine wine to self-care. I am opposed to this, except if you are a doctor with extensive clinical experience or in the doctor’s diagnosis of the prescription. However, most of them are looking for a few tonic herbs to make medicinal meals and brew medicinal wine. As mentioned earlier, the right medicine is beneficial, with the wrong is poison. Therefore, I advise you not to give yourself such health care. Because is the real doctor, but also through the look, smell, ask, cut four diagnosis, and finally will be collected by the information synthesis to find the root of the patient’s disease, that is, there will be a lot of misdiagnosis of things happen. Although we know our own body, but this is the biggest taboo for doctors, since the old days there are doctors do not treat themselves. In recent years, the state has strongly advocated the development of ethnic medicine, but not the blind expansion of development. Nowadays, many pharmaceutical TV commercials are promoting Chinese medicine with little or no side effects. I think these people are not developing Chinese medicine, but are pushing the cause of Chinese medicine to death. Their only purpose is to take advantage of national policies and make a fortune from them. The government departments concerned should stop the people from not suing and the officials from not investigating. The time has come to make up their minds to change these bad practices and let the people be guided by the right views, so that they can really experience the benefits of Chinese medicine instead of being harmed by it. I don’t know if I’ve gone off topic, but these are the words of my own heart, may be a little radical, but I think to everyone more or less will be some benefit, which is inappropriate, I hope you will bear with me.
