The principal point of the Liver meridian is not the Xingma point, it is the Dadun point.
This point refers to the points in the five transport points of the meridians that have the same attributes of the five elements as those of the meridians. The Liver meridian belongs to the wood and is a yin meridian, and the well-points of the yin meridian belong to the wood, so the main point of the Liver meridian should be its well-point, i.e., the Dadun point.
The location of Xingma point is between the first and second toes on the back of the foot, located in the red and white flesh margins behind the toe web margins (the junction of the heart of the hand with the back of the hand, and the heart of the foot with the back of the foot). Xingma point belongs to the Xing point of the Foot Syncopal Liver Meridian, which is a fire point in the Five Elements and is not a point of the Liver Meridian.
Xingma is used to treat pain in the inner side of the lower limbs, swelling and pain in the hocks of the feet; fullness and pain in the chest and ribs; enuresis, retention of urine (dribbling or inability to urinate); as well as women’s disorders of the belt, menorrhagia (excessive or incessant dribbling of the menstrual period), irregular menstruation, menstrual pain, amenorrhea; headache and eye redness, as well as strokes and epilepsy.
Dadun acupoint is located on the lateral side of the last section of the big toe, 0.1 inch (finger inch) behind the lateral angle of the root of the toenail, and is a well point of the Liver meridian. It has the efficacy of restoring Yang to save the body (by warming Yang Qi to save the body from fainting, unconsciousness, etc.), regulating the menstruation and stopping dribbling, and it can be used for treating menstruation closure, menstruation, hernia, and urinary leakage, and other illnesses.
The selection of acupoints, as well as acupuncture, tuina and other operations on the acupoints need to be guided and operated by a professional physician, and if there is any discomfort, it is recommended to go to a medical institution in time to consult a doctor, and it is not recommended to operate on one’s own in order to avoid damaging the organism or causing delay in the condition.
