Babies can usually see people around 3~4 months.
Visual development is a gradual process, the newborn period in fact already have visual sensory functions, quiet state of the newborn can briefly look at the object, at this time although the object can be seen but can not see, 15 ~ 20cm distance to see the most clear (that is, the optimal focal length).
Infants at 1 month of age, head-eye coordination, the head can follow the moving object for the horizontal direction of rotation 90 °; 3 ~ 4 months of age, eye coordination, the head with the object of the horizontal rotation of 180 °, like to look at their own hands, and can identify color and non-color of the object.
At 6~7 months of age, the eyes rotate vertically with objects moving up and down, and can change body position to coordinate movements; at 8~9 months of age, depth of vision begins to appear, i.e., visually estimating the distance of an object, and being able to see small objects.
At 1 year of age, visual acuity is about 0.2; at 2 years of age, visual acuity reaches 0.5, and can distinguish between vertical and horizontal lines; around 3 years of age, he/she starts to name colors, and recognizes circles, squares, and triangles; at 4-5 years of age, the depth of vision is fully developed, and visual acuity reaches 1.0, and he/she is able to read symbols and words in books and on the blackboard.
