Lung cancer may cause patients to lose weight.
Clinically, early stage lung cancer patients are usually not easy to lose weight, and those who lose weight are mostly late stage patients, and there are several main reasons for patients to lose weight.
1. Lung cancer metastasizes in liver, gastrointestinal tract and other parts of the body, which affects patients’ appetite and ability to eat, thus leading to insufficient nutrient intake and resulting in wasting.
2. Rapid development of lung cancer tumor usually consumes more protein, fat and other nutrients in the patient’s body, resulting in symptoms such as hypoproteinemia, edema and wasting.
3. Psychological depression of patients caused by lung cancer will also lead to a great reduction of food intake, thus causing patients to lose weight.
