Capecitabine has a preventive effect on metastasis of cancer cells within the indications (colon, rectal, and breast cancer), but does not prevent metastasis of all cancer cells. Capecitabine is indicated for adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer, monotherapy or combination chemotherapy for advanced colorectal cancer, and monotherapy or combination chemotherapy for metastatic breast cancer. Capecitabine has some preventive effect on cancer cell metastasis of the above cancer types, and some survival advantages can be obtained, but capecitabine cannot have the effect of treatment and prevention of cancer cell metastasis on all cancer types. Capecitabine may have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hand-foot syndrome, headache, and abnormal sensation during its application, and is contraindicated in women who are allergic to it and pregnant, and some gastrointestinal reactions and hand-foot syndrome are closely related to the dosage of the drug used. Capecitabine must be applied under the guidance of a specialist, not self-administered to avoid adverse consequences.
