The difference between a mass and a tumor

The so-called tumors, lumps, masses, and swellings, etc., in fact, there is no substantial difference, just called differently. Tumor is a medical term, which is used in textbooks for teaching and communication between medical personnel, while mass, lump, swelling, etc. is the colloquialization of tumor, which is the common language used by doctors in communication with patients, patients’ families, and non-medical personnel. Regardless of whether it is a tumor, lump, mass or swelling, it is necessary to distinguish between benign and malignant, and different treatment plans need to be formulated according to the different nature of the tumor, as well as determining the different prognosis, and the confirmation of the diagnosis relies on pathological examination.
