Are pancreatic polyps serious?

The severity of pancreatic polyps is related to the size of the polyps. If the pancreatic polyps are relatively large, for example, larger than 1 cm, they are relatively more serious. Patients are advised to give prophylactic surgical treatment and the removed polyps will be given by the doctor for pathological examination. Benign polyps heal well after surgery, while malignant polyps are more serious and need to be treated with aggressive radiotherapy and chemotherapy in a timely manner. If the pancreatic polyp is smaller than 1 cm and the patient has no clinical symptoms or discomfort, it can be temporarily observed. However, it is necessary to regularly review pancreatic ultrasound, pancreatic CT, or pancreatic MRI to understand the changes of pancreatic polyps. If the pancreatic polyps are found to increase in size or increase in number, surgery is also recommended.
