Do you know how to sleep?

In higher animals, there is a rhythmical activity, namely “biological rhythm or wakefulness/sleep rhythm”, including body temperature, blood pressure, endocrine activity and so on. In addition to the relatively fixed time of sleep and wakefulness, blood pressure is lowest around 3:00 a.m. and highest around 9:00 p.m.; peptic ulcer, asthma and myocardial infarction are likely to occur at 2:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m. and clear. With the high development of society, the increase of overtime, night work and night life, it is very important to arrange the rest time and medication taking time scientifically according to the natural rules of the organism. Normal people have different requirements for sleep every day. Generally, as age increases, sleep time gradually decreases. This is related to both genetic factors and environmental factors. Therefore the same standard of sleep time cannot be used simply to judge whether sleep is normal or not; the quality of sleep may be more important than the duration of sleep. So do you know how to have a good sleep? Do you know how to sleep? 1, daytime activities: mental excitement and somatic movement during the day is good for sleep. But the amount of exercise and the length of sleep are not related, and you should also avoid excessive stress and exertion. 2.Preparation for sleep: you should not do strenuous exercise at night, and you should also avoid some highly exciting study and entertainment. Dinner should not be too late, eat easily digestible food, do not be too full, and do not drink excitatory drinks and large amounts of alcohol. Another very important thing is that the bedroom temperature should be appropriate, comfortable bed, no noise and bright light interference. 3, the way of sleep: First of all, it should be pointed out that during normal sleep certain movements of the body occur, for example, changes in posture occur about every 15-20 minutes during sleep, and corresponding movements occur when transitions occur in the various periods of sleep. These movements are sometimes accompanied by EEG arousal responses, but people are not aware of these movements, do not affect the quality of sleep, and are considered normal physiological responses. There are also some common symptoms that should be known by everyone. Sleep startle occurs when one first falls asleep, as a sudden, brief myoclonic-like movement, often accompanied by a sense of falling, loss of balance or floating. It is reported to be experienced by about 60% to 70% of the population and can be considered a normal phenomenon. Sleep terrors often result in frequent episodes due to fatigue, depression, and after caffeine application. The overall prognosis is good, and treatment is largely unnecessary. Nocturnal head banging occurs mainly in childhood, starting at 6 months to 2 years of age, and mostly disappearing before puberty. It is characterized by nocturnal episodes of forceful flexion and extension of the neck, sometimes accompanied by rhythmic shaking of the head to the sides or shaking of the whole body. It occurs repeatedly for several minutes at a time and sometimes lasts for 3 to 4 hours. It tends to occur at the beginning of sleep and during light sleep, and does not usually occur during stage 3 or 4 of non-REM sleep. The cause of this condition is unknown and usually does not require treatment; some measures can be taken to prevent injury during an episode. Restless legs syndrome occurs most often at night, especially after bedtime, and often interferes with sleep. Patients often complain of overwhelming discomfort and are forced to move their legs. Symptoms can be reduced by moving the legs and massaging the legs. Patients should avoid caffeinated beverages and abstain from smoking and alcohol to help alleviate symptoms. A hot bath before bedtime can sometimes help. If the cause can be found, then treatment for the cause is often effective. In addition, the safety of the surrounding environment during sleep is also important, you can place an air mattress next to the bed, do not distribute dangerous objects in the room, etc. In addition, due to the impact of lying and sleeping on the respiratory muscles, it is easy to increase the resistance of the upper respiratory tract and reduce the respiratory muscle tone, so for those patients with special diseases should be aware of some general knowledge of the impact of sleep position on health. 1, cervical spondylosis: do not have the idea of “high pillow”, should be used to go to the pillow lying flat, or put the pillow under the neck, do not let the neck hanging. On the other hand, it is strictly forbidden to turn over suddenly and violently. 2, sleep apnea syndrome: pay attention to elevate the upper body during sleep, side lying. The backward fall of the tongue root when lying on the back can cause respiratory blockage, so the resistance of the airway caused can increase more than 10 times. 3, post-stroke sequelae: patients with hemiplegia should follow the doctor’s orders and implement special lying positions according to their specific conditions to ensure blood circulation and functional position of the affected limb in order to help the recovery of the limb. 4. Patients with cardiopulmonary diseases should preferably be in the right lateral position and not in the prone lateral position. When lower limb edema occurs, the lower limb can be properly elevated to facilitate the improvement of microcirculation. 5, for those who are drunk, sleep deeply after exertion and suffer from diabetes, prolonged use of a posture to compress the limb may cause peripheral nerve damage. There are also a number of diseases that occur in relation to the environmental factors of sleep. For example, hypokalemic paralysis often occurs during cold nights of binge drinking; facial nerve paralysis is also often closely related to the use of air conditioning during sleep on hot days. So a warm and comfortable environment is essential for sleep.
