Gleevec dosage

Gleevec is Imatinib Mesylate Tablets, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor commonly used to treat patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic granulocytic leukemia. The dosage for Gleevec is 400 mg/d for the chronic phase, 600 mg/d for the accelerated phase, and 600-800 mg/d for the acute phase. also, due to Gleevec’s cytotoxicity, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia can occur. If leukocytes and platelets decrease, the dose needs to be reduced, usually by 300 mg/d. If the number of leukocytes and platelets still decreases after the dose reduction, the drug needs to be discontinued for observation. Also common side effects of Gleevec include edema, fatigue, joint pain, headache, nausea, diarrhea, muscle cramps, etc.
