What is serum amyloid

Serum amyloid is a protein in the body that is produced by the body during infection and inflammation. It is elevated very high especially within the first few hours of infection and then comes down after the infection is controlled. Therefore, this protein is used clinically as an indicator of inflammation, i.e. a high test may indicate the presence of inflammation in the body. Serum amyloid is probably more closely related to viral infections. So in the clinic there are infections, in addition to this indicator, combined with other inflammatory indicators, laboratory results to determine a comprehensive, and then for the diagnosis of a direction, treatment options favor the viral aspects, bacterial aspects, or other aspects, so that the treatment is more reasonable, but also to avoid the abuse of antibiotics.
