Hyperbaric chambers are available to treat sudden deafness. Sudden deafness, is an acute sensorineural deafness that occurs suddenly within 72 hours. Clinical treatment guidelines recommend oral glucocorticoid therapy as the primary treatment. Other recommended methods include improving microcirculation and blood flow, such as Ginkgo biloba extract injection, also known as Ginnado; nerve-nourishing drugs, such as murine nerve growth factor for injection; and hyperbaric chambers as well as local injections of glucocorticoids. Usually, oral glucocorticoids and drugs to improve microcirculation are given for 7-10 days, and if they do not work, hyperbaric oxygen chambers or local glucocorticoid injections are considered. There is no need to use hyperbaric chamber as the first-line treatment of choice, otherwise it will waste medical resources and increase the financial burden of patients.
