Recurrence rate after surgery for adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon

The recurrence rate after surgery for adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon has not been accurately reported, and it is closely related to the stage of cancer, disease progression, and physical condition. For most patients after surgery, the 2-year recurrence rate is usually around 30%. For early stage adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon, the infiltration range is generally small, and the possibility of postoperative recurrence is very small, and the 2-year recurrence rate is generally below 10%; for middle and late stage adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon, the longer the delay of the disease, the more likely to recur after the operation, and if the patient follows the doctor’s instructions to carry out scientific and standardized treatment, the recurrence rate is generally around 30%. Therefore, it is recommended that patients should have a recheck every 3~6 months within 2~3 years after surgery, and every half a year to a year thereafter. Therefore, adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon must be followed up regularly after surgery to prevent cancer recurrence.
