Cryptorchidism does not develop later in life. Cryptorchidism is a congenital malformation, which is mainly an abnormal descent of the testicle, where the testicle does not descend normally to the scrotum and stays in the retroperitoneum, the inguinal canal, or at the entrance of the scrotum. In patients with cryptorchidism, if the testicle has not descended within one year of age, it can be observed as there is a possibility that the testicle will descend on its own within one year of age. If the testicle still has not descended after one year of age, medication is recommended. Chorionic gonadotropin is recommended to be given intramuscularly twice a week at 500 units each time, for a total dose of 5,000 to 10,000 units. If the testicle has not descended by the age of two years, surgery to fix the descending cryptorchid testicle is recommended.
