Chronic cervicitis (chronic cervitis) is the most common disease in gynecology. The pathogens mostly invade the cervix after childbirth, abortion or vaginal surgery, causing inflammation, but often without clinical manifestations of the acute process. Because of the thin columnar epithelium of the endocervical canal, the resistance is weak, and there are many folds, pathogens are often latent in them, and the infection is not easily cleared completely and causes chronic cervicitis. More than half of married women suffer from this disease, and the lesions still exist when the pathogens have been killed. What are the common chronic cervicitis conditions? There are cervical erosion, cervical polyps, cervical hypertrophy, cervical nuchal translucency and cervical ductitis. 1. normal cervix 2. cervical erosion (mild) cervical erosion (severe) 3. cervical polyps 4. cervical nuchal translucency What are the manifestations of chronic cervicitis? 1. The main symptom is increased leucorrhea. The leukorrhea is milky, mucus-like, or yellowish-purulent. 2. Most patients with mild chronic cervicitis are asymptomatic or have only mild symptoms. 3.When there are cervical polyps, there may be bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse. 4.The stimulation of leukorrhea can be secondary to vulvovaginitis and cause vulvar scratching. 5.Inflammation spread along the uterosacral ligament and the main ligament can lead to inflammation of pelvic connective tissue, causing lumbosacral pain, pelvic cramping and distension, which is aggravated during menstruation, and can also cause painful intercourse. 6.When the inflammation spreads to the bladder triangle or connective tissue around the bladder, there may be frequent urination or difficulty in urination. 7. The sticky purulent leucorrhea is not conducive to the passage of sperm and can cause infertility. Does cervicitis affect fertility? Moderate or severe cervicitis affects pregnancy and therefore needs to be treated. A cervical smear is required to rule out other pathologies before treatment. If cervicitis is diagnosed, treatment can be chosen depending on the hospital you see. In severe cases of cervicitis, medication is not effective and freezing and electrocautery are usually performed. After 2-3 months of treatment, you can get pregnant if your cervicitis improves. These treatments usually do not affect fertility.
