Why you shouldn’t walk too much after meniscus surgery

Walking too much after meniscus surgery may cause muscle damage to the knee joint or lead to re-injury of the meniscus. Meniscus is the fibrous cartilage attached to the tibial plateau of the knee joint, divided into medial and lateral meniscus, which mainly plays a role of cushioning and lubrication in the joint, but if under the action of external force, it may damage the muscles on both sides of the meniscus. So avoid walking too much after meniscus surgery to prevent carrying the full load of the body on the knee joint. In addition, when walking, the meniscus will move accordingly, which may cause the damaged part of the meniscus to fail to heal, and will easily lead to knee pain in the long run. In conclusion, you should not walk too much after meniscus surgery and your daily training program should be strictly adhered to by your doctor and therapist.
