Can gallbladder atrophy cause bile reflux gastritis?

Gallbladder atrophy may cause bile reflux gastritis.
Atrophy of the gallbladder affects the normal concentration and storage of bile, causing bile to be excreted in large quantities and irregularly, which may lead to bile refluxing into the stomach and cause bile reflux gastritis. Therefore, gallbladder atrophy may cause bile reflux gastritis.
However, it should be noted that not all patients with gallbladder atrophy will develop this disease. In addition to gallbladder atrophy, abnormalities in the structure or function of the pylorus, and psychosomatic factors can also lead to bile reflux gastritis, which may be caused by a single or multiple etiologic factors.
Patients with gallbladder atrophy or even bile reflux gastritis should be treated individually for a good prognosis.
