The treatment of intercostal neuralgia is related to the type of disease and may be treated with medication, interventional therapy, and surgery. Intercostal neuralgia may be related to the primary disease, or it may be related to lung cancer, tuberculosis, herpes zoster, rib injuries, and post-surgical procedures. Among them, herpes zoster is the most common. Herpes zoster can be treated with medications such as Pregabalin and Lidocaine for pain relief under the guidance of a doctor, and should be treated with antiviral medications such as acyclovir and ribavirin. For intercostal neuralgia whose etiology is still unclear, interventional methods can be used to block nerve conduction and relieve pain symptoms, or surgical methods can be used to sever the nerve. In addition, radiofrequency pulses and electrical nerve stimulation can also be used for treatment. After systematic treatment, the vast majority of intercostal neuralgia can be cured.
