What is vaginal bulge

Vaginal bulge is a condition in which the anterior or posterior vaginal wall slips from its normal position to the lower part of the vagina or outside the vaginal opening. Vaginal bulge is a result of degeneration or damage to the supporting tissues of the pelvic floor in women, such as in older women, resulting in a decrease in estrogenic function; weakening of the supporting tissues of the pelvic floor due to injury such as pregnancy and childbirth or trauma, and is most often seen in women after the age of 50 in the perimenopausal period. Vaginal bulge starts after birth, and patients are advised to do functional exercises of pelvic floor muscles, which can effectively prevent rectal prolapse of vagina, uterus and bladder, and it is recommended to do pelvic floor functional assessment test in hospital.
