Slurred speech may be caused by cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, trigeminal neuralgia, etc., which needs to be treated with medication or physical therapy or surgery according to the cause of the disease.
1. Cerebral infarction: atherosclerotic lesions of cerebral arteries lead to narrowing of the lumen, limiting blood supply to the brain, ischemic infarction of brain cells and causing dysfunction of vocal cords and other organs of articulation, which leads to the above symptoms. It can be treated by intravenous thrombolysis, interventional therapy, application of anti-platelet aggregation (e.g. aspirin) and lipid-lowering plaque stabilization (e.g. atorvastatin) and other drugs.
2. Cerebral hemorrhage: bleeding after rupture of cerebral blood vessels leads to cerebral edema, cerebral hernia and other serious conditions, and dysfunction of brain cells causes dysfunction of vocal cords, tongue muscles and other dysfunctions, so the speech will be slurred. Aminocaproic acid, hemostatic cyclic acid, mannitol and other medications can be applied, and surgery can be performed if necessary.
3. Trigeminal neuralgia: when trigeminal neuralgia pain is severe, patients will have symptoms such as convulsions of the corners of the mouth, and thus will have slurred speech. Carbamazepine, phenytoin sodium and other drugs can be applied to treat, if necessary, the microvascular decompression surgery and other surgical treatment.
Neuritis outside this area may also cause slurred speech. It can be treated with drugs such as prednisone and methylcobalamin, and if necessary, physiotherapy and facial nerve decompression. Pay attention to the use of drugs under the guidance of a physician.
