Is it normal to have undigested leaves in your stool?

Stool mixed with undigested vegetable leaves may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or may be a pathological phenomenon (such as indigestion, gastroenteritis, etc.).
1. Physiological phenomenon: vegetables are rich in fiber, which is not easy to be fully digested and absorbed by the body. If you eat a lot of vegetables or do not chew sufficiently, it may lead to feces mixed with leaves that are not fully digested. This phenomenon is a normal physiological phenomenon, no need to worry too much.
2. Pathologic phenomenon:
(1) dyspepsia: the patient’s gastrointestinal function is low, resulting in the food can not be fully digested and absorbed, thus causing the phenomenon of vegetable leaves discharged with the stool.
(2) Gastroenteritis: Gastroenteritis is mainly caused by improper diet, manifested as vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, stool with undigested food and other symptoms, a few patients may also be accompanied by symptoms of fever.
The presence of undigested leaves in the stool alone does not determine whether or not it is normal. If you have undigested food in your stool for a long period of time, you should go to the hospital in time to get help from your doctor to identify the cause of the problem and give you treatment.
