Can Ginger Cola Cure Cold and Cough?

Ginger Cola is a common drink that is not generally considered to have disease-treating properties. Ginger can promote sweating and dissipate cold, and warm the stomach to stop vomiting (to warm the spleen and stomach to treat vomiting caused by stomach cold). When used as an ingredient in beverages, it may be useful in treating colds and flu.
Ginger is pungent and slightly warm. It enters the lung, stomach and spleen meridians. It is used for dispersing cold, eliminating phlegm and lowering qi, warming the body and stopping vomiting. As a pungent and warming herb, ginger cola drink may be useful for wind-cold colds, but may not be effective for wind-heat or deficiency colds.
Colds and coughs need to be treated under the guidance of a medical professional and prescribed medication for the best results, and should not be taken blindly on their own, so as to avoid adverse consequences caused by the incorrect medication.
