The effects and functions of Jingtian are clearing heat and removing toxins (removing heat and poisonous evil from the body), activating blood circulation and stopping bleeding. Jingtian has a small toxicity and is often used in treating dengtian (acute infectious disease with reddening of the skin as if painted), furuncles (sores mostly occurring on the limbs or face, small in shape with deep roots, hard as nails), carbuncles, cataracts in the eyes of fire, irritable heat (agitation and sullenness), panic attacks, wind rashes, lacquered sores, burns, snake and insect bites, vomiting and hemoptysis, heavy menstruation and bleeding from traumas. Caution should be exercised in taking Jingtian for those with deficiency and coldness of the spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach).
