After anastomotic recurrence of cardia cancer after surgery, re-surgical treatment can improve the quality of survival, delay the progression of disease and prolong the survival period of some recurrent patients. However, whether surgery is possible or not needs to be decided according to the patient’s condition. The first 5 years after cardia cancer surgery is the high-risk period for recurrence, and there is a relatively high chance of recurrence. Some patients with anastomotic recurrence can choose surgery if they have good general status and radical resection exists. However, most of the patients with anastomotic recurrence after cardia cancer surgery are in poor physical condition and have distant metastasis, so the effect of surgical treatment is not ideal. If there is anastomotic recurrence of cardia cancer after surgery, it is suggested that patients should go to regular hospitals and let doctors comprehensively evaluate their conditions and accept appropriate treatment plans to avoid delaying their conditions.
