After colonoscopic polypectomy, some patients may experience diarrhea symptoms due to factors such as intestinal irritation, or diarrhea may occur due to inflammatory infections.
Laxative medications are used to empty the bowel before the colonoscopy procedure, and some patients may experience diarrhea symptoms after the procedure is completed while still under the influence of the medications. During polypectomy, diarrhea may also occur due to irritation of the intestinal mucosa and increased intestinal peristalsis in the postoperative period. This type of diarrhea can usually be slowly recovered through rest and a light diet.
Some patients with postoperative diarrhea may be due to intestinal infection and inflammation, accompanied by fever and other symptoms, and require prompt medical attention and symptomatic antibiotic treatment.
If the postoperative diarrhea is severe and cannot be relieved on its own, or if there are other discomforts, it is necessary to be examined in a regular hospital and treated symptomatically, and not to be treated with medication on one’s own.
