Can the rabies virus be cross-infected?

Rabies virus is generally not cross-infectious.
The main source of rabies virus is sick dogs, followed by sick cats and sick wolves. Once human beings are bitten by sick animals, the viruses in the saliva of these animals will invade the human body, and then infected with rabies virus; and some patients may be infected with rabies virus due to the cornea of their eyes being contaminated by the saliva of sick dogs.
The rabies virus is generally more difficult to survive away from the human environment, so the contagiousness is relatively weak and indirect transmission does not usually occur.
In addition, the rabies virus is more dangerous, once scratched or bitten by cats or dogs, it is important to get vaccinated against rabies as soon as possible to avoid rabies infection and jeopardize life and health.
