How to review Kawasaki disease

Kawasaki disease requires checkups one month after discharge from the hospital, and regular reviews if coronary dilatation is present.
As Kawasaki disease tends to cause coronary artery dilatation and in some cases coronary artery aneurysm, one month after discharge from the hospital, electrocardiogram and cardiac ultrasound are carried out to find out the specific condition of the coronary artery site and to exclude arrhythmia, heart failure, valvular insufficiency of closure, myocarditis and other diseases. Later on, for those who have undergone surgical interventions, a review is also conducted one month after the procedure.
In addition, blood tests are performed to find out the lipid profile and to avoid heart disease induced by high blood lipids. If risk factors are present, re-checks need to be done at intervals of 3 to 6 months until symptoms disappear.
After discharge from the hospital, Kawasaki disease should be reviewed strictly according to the doctor’s instructions, and the frequency of review should be adjusted according to the changes of the disease at a later stage.
