What are the iron supplements for pregnant women



There are two types of iron supplements for pregnant women: oral and intravenous. The commonly used oral drugs are ferrous sulfate, ferrous lactate, ferrous fumarate and iron dextrose. Intravenous infusion is iron sucrose injection.

Oral iron supplements: iron supplements such as ferrous sulfate tablets, iron fumarate granules, and iron dextrose oral solution. The more common side effects after taking such drugs are gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and vomiting. Black stools are also likely to occur after iron supplementation.

It is contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment and untreated urinary tract infections, iron overload, hemochromatosis or ferrous hemosiderosis, non-iron deficiency anemia, and hypersensitivity to the product.

Intravenous infusion: iron sucrose injection, etc. Adverse reactions such as headache, nausea and diarrhea may occur after use. The product is contraindicated in non-iron deficiency anemia, iron overload or impaired iron utilization and known hypersensitivity to monosaccharide or disaccharide complexes.
