What does bladder truncal position mean?

The cystotomy position is a position in which the patient lies flat on the treatment bed with the buttocks pressed against the lower edge of the bed, and then the legs are placed apart on brackets located on either side of the bed to maximize exposure of the perineum, and is a common position for intracavitary urological treatment. The reason why this position is called amputation is that in the earliest treatment of bladder stones, the surgeon made a transverse incision between the patient’s scrotum and anus in such a position and then went into the bladder to remove the stones. This method of treatment continued for thousands of years until 1720, when it was proposed to enter the bladder through an abdominal incision to retrieve the stone, a position that is still called the amputation position for historical reasons.
