How should family members cooperate with rehabilitation treatment?

Rehabilitation treatment is not only the responsibility of rehabilitation physicians, therapists and nurses, but also requires the understanding, support and cooperation of family members in the process of rehabilitation treatment so that we can achieve twice the result with half the effort. Patients should actively participate in the rehabilitation process, but should not be too impatient. When the patient is unable to care for himself/herself, the patient’s family can help, if appropriate, but it should be kept in mind that assistance is not a substitute and the patient should still actively participate in the rehabilitation treatment. The following are some general principles for reference: 1. Understand the ability and functional limitations of the stroke patient; 2. Avoid pulling the patient’s affected hand and shoulder with force, which can easily lead to shoulder subluxation; 3. Actively guide, comfort and encourage the patient to overcome anxiety and depression. Depression and emotional instability are common in stroke patients, which is their normal reaction to the loss of certain life functions. Assist the patient to adopt a good posture of lying, sitting and standing; 7. It is easy for the patient to forget the affected side, because it is helpful to talk to him/her from the affected side or to make him/her touch the affected side of the body. How to carry out home rehabilitation after discharge and how to prevent recurrence? It has been confirmed that the risk factors for stroke are: hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking, carotid artery stenosis, sickle cell disease, and homocysteinemia. Excessive alcohol consumption and lack of exercise can also increase the likelihood of stroke. To prevent the recurrence of stroke, the main interventions are aimed at the above risk factors. 1, treatment of hypertension, diabetes, etc., long-term secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease; 2, quit smoking: because smoking can greatly increase the risk of stroke, no matter how many years you have been smoking, it is never too late to quit smoking. 3.Dietary treatment: limit the intake of fat and cholesterol, and eat more fruits and vegetables. 4, strengthen physical exercise: physical exercise can reduce weight, reduce the incidence of high blood pressure and diabetes. 5.Maintain a good psychological state and actively participate in relevant activities in the community. 6.Modification of home environment: such as installation of handrails in toilets and showers, and use of assisted living appliances.
