How to treat otitis media in babies

There are two most common types of otitis media in babies: acute purulent otitis media and acute secretory otitis media, both of which usually require anti-infective treatment. Acute suppurative otitis media is an inflammation of the middle ear cavity caused by bacterial infection, and its most common symptoms are ear pain and pus. If not treated, chronic purulent otitis media may form, causing perforation of the eardrum, resulting in lifelong damage to the baby’s hearing. Therefore, it is important to treat the symptoms promptly. Acute secretory otitis media is due to various causes of eustachian tube obstruction, thus causing secretory otitis media, common causes include colds, adenoid hypertrophy, etc. The most common clinical symptoms are ear stuffiness and hearing loss, which can be treated symptomatically with nasal spray, oral antibiotics to prevent infection, and Cerno to promote mucus discharge, which can generally be improved, if repeatedly not improved. If the condition does not improve repeatedly, you can consider intra-dural puncture and tympanic tube placement as symptomatic treatment. So after your baby has otitis media, first of all, don’t worry, you must consult a doctor in time to clarify what causes it, and carry out targeted anti-infection treatment, generally will be fine.
