There is no such thing as “the best way to do acupressure for food accumulation”. For food accumulation, we can use techniques such as Kai Xuan Gui (开璇玑), rubbing the ribs and other techniques. 1. Open Xuan Gui: Open Xuan Gui is one of the compound operation methods of pediatric Tui Na. First, from the Xuan Gui point, push along the chest ribs from top to bottom to the left and right sides, then push from the Hatsuo point down to the umbilicus, then push from the umbilicus to the left and right sides, and finally push from the umbilicus to the abdomen, which is called the Kai Xuan Gui maneuver. This method can open up the upper Jiao, Xuan Tong Zhong Jiao, the main treatment of chest tightness and shortness of breath, gasping, cough and phlegm, food accumulation (food indigestion and accumulation in the stomach) abdominal pain, stagnation and distension, vomiting and diarrhea, and fever does not go away, such as real heat. 2. Rubbing the ribs: rubbing the palms of the hands from the armpits of the two ribs to the center of the sky, called rubbing the ribs. Rubbing 50 to 100 times. It can smooth Qi and resolve phlegm, remove chest congestion and open accumulation. This point is open and descending in nature, and is mostly used for children’s chest tightness and abdominal distension due to food accumulation (food that is indigested and stagnates in the stomach), phlegm congestion, and qi reversal. This point should be used with caution for those who are suffering from Zhongqi subsidence (deficiency of Qi in the spleen and stomach, with manifestations such as the organs falling down) and those whose kidneys are unable to absorb Qi (dysfunction of the kidneys, unable to incorporate gases). The techniques commonly used in acupressure for food accumulation, such as opening the xuan gui and rubbing the ribs, need to be operated by professional acupressure therapists, and individuals should not be treated in informal medical institutions, as this may lead to undesirable accidents.
