What causes swollen eyes and pain?

Oedema with pain in the eyes is caused by the following: first, cellulitis of the eyelids, due to the gradual spread and aggravation of limited eye infections, such as wheals, eyelid folliculitis, which may form cellulitis of the eyelids if not treated in a timely manner or if they are squeezed, and when the eyelid area is traumatized, resulting in infection by bacteria entering the interior of the eyelids through skin wounds. Second, acute lacrimal gland infection, where the redness and pain of the eye is located on the outside of the upper eyelid, and a mass can be felt under the skin of the upper eyelid and extends into the orbit, caused by an acute bacterial or viral infection of the lacrimal gland. Third, acute keratitis, when infectious inflammation occurs in the black eye area, can cause reactive bulbar conjunctival edema and eyelid edema.
