Erythema multiforme usually resolves in about 2 to 4 weeks, with variations depending on the type and severity of the disease.
The causes of erythema multiforme are complex and may be related to herpes simplex virus infection, drugs, food and other factors. Among them, erythema multiforme is relatively common, the disease is mild, the systemic symptoms are not serious, and the skin lesions of most patients can subside in about 2 to 4 weeks. For severe erythema multiforme, the course of the disease is relatively prolonged, and the prognosis is relatively unsatisfactory, and may even be life-threatening.
The cause of erythema multiforme should be actively searched for and all suspicious drugs should be stopped. In mild cases, the disease usually resolves spontaneously within a few weeks and only requires symptomatic treatment; in severe cases, the disease is often life-threatening and requires active treatment.
