How long will it take to heal from a torn vulva?

Generally speaking, the swelling of the vulva can be cured in 2 to 4 days after a normal delivery, but there are individual differences. During normal delivery, due to the pressure of the fetal head on the perineal tissues, and the maximum expansion of the perineal tissues when the fetus is delivered, it can cause perineal edema and laceration. For perineal lacerations, stitches are needed to stop the bleeding. For perineal edema, it can gradually subside in 2~3 days after delivery, and most of the lacerations can be healed in 3~4 days after stitches are applied. However, for complicated lacerations, the healing time needs to be extended appropriately. After delivery, women should keep the vulva clean and dry, perineal wounds should be disinfected 2~3 times a day, and those with edema can be given local magnesium sulfate wet or cold compresses. For perineal sutures, we also need to observe the healing of the wound, whether there is redness, swelling and hardness, and if necessary, we need to remove the stitches in advance.
