The anti-tuberculosis treatment regimen is different for patients with primary and secondary treatment. For patients with primary TB, the course of treatment is 6 months, with the first 2 months being the intensive period, during which rifampicin, isoniazid, ethambutol and pyrazinamide are used; and the second 4 months being the consolidation period, during which rifampicin and isoniazid are used. In case of relapsed TB, the course of treatment is 9 months. The first 3 months is the intensive period, and the drugs available are rifampin, isoniazid, ethambutol, pyrazinamide, streptomycin or quinolones, such as levofloxacin and moxifloxacin; the last 6 months is the consolidation period, during which only rifampin, isoniazid and ethambutol are needed. Most patients can be cured with the above treatment plan.
