How long does it take to return to normal after laser lithotripsy?

How long it takes to return to normal after laser lithotripsy depends on the location, size and surgical method of the stone, which should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis and should not be generalized. If it is a urethral or bladder stone, the trauma is mild and the stone can be discharged from the body soon after laser lithotripsy, usually 3-5 days to return to normal. In case of ureteral stones, discharge can be arranged in 3-5 days after the surgery alone, but a stent tube needs to be left in the body after the surgery, and the stent tube will be removed about 4 weeks after the surgery, and it will be fully restored to normal after the removal. In the case of kidney stones, the recovery time is usually 1 month for laser surgery with a soft ureteroscope through the urethra and about 3 months for laser lithotripsy with a percutaneous nephrolithoscope. This procedure is traumatic to the kidneys and patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities for 3 months after surgery, while oral antibiotics can be taken to prevent urinary tract infections. After laser lithotripsy, patients need to follow up with the hospital regularly, pay attention to proper rest in daily life, drink more water, urinate more, avoid holding urine, eat a balanced diet, and avoid spicy and stimulating food.
