What causes large nipple rings

Nipple ring is the common name for areola. Large areola may be associated with genetic factors, physiological factors, elevated estrogen production levels and other conditions.
1. Genetic factors: areola is a ring-shaped area on the outside of the nipple, with a diameter of about 1-3 centimeters. Areola size and genetic factors are closely related, if the parents are large areola, the offspring children areola will also be larger.
2. Physiological factors: mainly seen in women entering pregnancy, breastfeeding, due to the body’s estrogen, progesterone physiological rise, stimulation of nipple, areola and breast tissue, resulting in nipple, areola become larger. At the same time, the color of nipple and areola will also deepen from red or pink to dark red, brown or even black.
3. Increased level of estrogen secretion: If the patient has ovarian lesions or pituitary gland lesions, it may lead to increased level of estrogen secretion and stimulate the areola to become bigger.
Patients need to go to the hospital as soon as possible, through ultrasound, CT, MRI and other examination programs to analyze and confirm the diagnosis of lesions and then targeted treatment.
