There is no specific value for the probability of a ground glass shadow in the upper lobe of the right lung being cancer, and further testing is needed to clarify the cause.
If the presence of a ground glass nodule is detected during lung imaging, there is no specific value for the chance of it being cancer. There are many causes of ground glass nodules, including pneumonia, tuberculosis, trauma, hemorrhage, dust accumulation, allergies, immune disorders, and lung cancer, most of which are benign.
To clarify the cause of the disease, further examination is needed, including sputum culture, tuberculin test, chest enhancement CT, and pathologic examination, among which pathologic examination is the gold standard for diagnosing lung cancer. If cancer cells are found in pathological examination, only then can it be diagnosed as carcinoma in situ or metastatic lesion of malignant tumor.
It is recommended that patients should seek medical treatment in time to make a clear diagnosis as early as possible and follow the doctor’s prescription for treatment.
