Patients experience symptoms of pain in the ear attached to the head for the following reasons: 1. Acute external otitis: Patients often experience acute inflammation, congestion, swelling and pain in the external ear canal due to factors such as excessive force when digging the ear or repeated water ingress in the ear. In some patients, the inflammation may spread further to the ear canal opening and part of the auricle, leading to radioactive head pain sensations. 2. Acute middle ear mastoid inflammation: Patients with middle ear mastoid inflammation are also prone to inflammation, congestion, swelling and pain in the mastoid area behind the ear, which may also be accompanied by partial headache symptoms. 3. Neuralgia of the ear: It is often accompanied by paroxysmal pain in the scalp area behind the ear.
