What’s the matter with the raised bones in the palm of your hand?

Bone protrusion in the palm of the hand may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it may be caused by pathological factors such as bone fracture, bone deformity, tendon sheath cysts, rheumatic system diseases and so on.
1. Physiological factors: interphalangeal joints and metacarpophalangeal joints can be easily seen on the palms of thin people, which are normal bone protrusions and generally do not need to worry.
2. Pathological factors
(1) Fracture: If there is a history of trauma, such as a fall, and there is obvious pain when pressing on the metacarpal bone protrusion, it may be caused by a fracture.
(2) Bone deformity: If there is a symptom of metacarpal bone protrusion at birth, it is considered to be a congenital metacarpal bone deformity. Meanwhile, for patients with previous metacarpal bone fracture or other injuries, recovery from the fracture may also cause deformity, which may lead to the symptom of protruding bones in the palm of the hand.
(3) Tendon sheath cysts: mostly caused by degenerative changes in the connective tissues in the joint capsule, ligaments, and tendon sheaths, and when the lesion is located in the palm of the hand, the symptoms of bone protrusion may appear.
(4) Rheumatic system diseases: such as gout repeated attacks can cause gouty arthritis palm joints bulging, swelling, pain and other symptoms.
It is not ruled out that the symptoms of protruding palm bones are caused by other diseases, therefore, it is recommended to consult the doctor in time, improve the X-ray examination of the hand, combined with other accompanying symptoms to determine the cause of the problem and then actively treat it, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
