How long can you live with advanced cancer and abdominal fluid?

There is no fixed time for how long a person can live with advanced cancer ascites, it depends on the patient’s specific situation. After ascites appears in patients with advanced cancer, the benign or malignant nature of ascites should be determined. If it is benign ascites, such as caused by low protein or inflammation, it is necessary to strengthen protein intake or active anti-inflammatory treatment to alleviate ascites, which can appropriately prolong the patient’s survival. If the ascites is malignant, it indicates that the cancer cells have spread to the abdominal cavity, and the situation is more serious, so the abdominal distension can be relieved by drainage through abdominal puncture and injection of appropriate chemotherapeutic drugs according to the condition in order to prolong the survival period. Survival should be assessed in the light of the nature and extent of the disease, the patient’s own physical condition, whether he/she cooperates with the treatment and the effect of the treatment.
